Case study of Guillain-Barré syndrome with acute flaccid paralysis

Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS) is a sudden and complicated degenerative neurological disorder which can be acute or chronic in nature. Etiology remains unclear, but pathophysiology shows demyelination of spinal nerve roots characterised by symmetrical limb weakness muscle stiffness. Death rare. Early diagnosis prompt treatment should occur severe cases. Here we discuss rare case GBS as paraesthesia flaccid paralysis. This report focuses on 9-year-old male patient presenting with c/o progressive the lower extremities. The clinical examination revealed bilateral weakness, absent deep tendon reflexes, diminished vibration sense, Diagnostic evaluations CT scan brain spine other preliminary tests confirmed demonstrating characteristic findings demyelinating polyneuropathy elevated protein levels without pleocytosis, respectively. Prompt initiation intravenous immunoglobulin therapy supportive measures, such physical therapy, were implemented. Over four-week period, showed improvement strength, starting from slight movement fingers toes. underscores importance accurate diagnosis, timely appropriate strategies managing GBS, highlighting efficacy first-line intervention for patients.
